Dates

This experience is available every Saturday to Saturday for the 7 day adventure and Monday to Friday fro the 5 day adventure from September to October.

Panasha is moored in the National Park of Hyères in the South of France near Toulon. This protected coastline provides a perfect setting for adventure. Nearby are the beautiful islands of Porquerolles, Levant and Port Croix. These islands provide idyllic moorings from where you can explore by sea kayak, wind surf or snorkel. Nearby are the famous Calanques, the Camargue, St Tropez and much more.

Setting

Corsica has inspired so many artists and writers, with its purple cliffs that plunge sharply into the sea, tiny villages hidden in the mountains, gorges sculptured in the rock by fickle rivers and hills carpeted with olive and Chestnut trees under the canopy of which wild boars still roam freely. Cliffs, canyons, rivers, wild beaches and over 1000km of coastline provides you a perfect natural setting for an ExplorAider adventure.

Program

The boat provides the perfect way to enjoy the best that Corsica has to offer, clear blue seas and white sandy beaches. Check out the Scandola nature reserve only accessible by boat where dolphins and seals thrive.

Thanks to our base camp, a 14m comfortable and luxurious Catamaran you can forget about traffic jams and pollution as soon as you arrive.

We will explore each natural area in usual ExplorAider style, that is using the best outdoor activity or combination of activities that suits your group, such as trekking, mountain biking, climbing, vertical hiking, canyoning, kayaking, swimming, horse riding, snorkelling or diving.

You will also have the possibility to take a kite-surf lesson or windsurfing lesson or if you already know how to wield our equipment against the sea breezes you can take the equipment and head off by yourself under the supervision of our guide. These activities are organized by professionals who know how to pass on their passion and love for this wild area.

Our guide will be your host and will ensure that you have a truly memorable experience and will set the program according to the level of the group to get the right mixture of exploration, adventure, culture and entertainment.

A full range of activities are proposed from the boat, some of these are included and some of these are available for a supplementary cost.

Windsurfing

Panasha is equipped with 4 windsurfing boards and a variety of sails and booms to suit a range of ages and abilities. With good tuition you can be comfortable on a windsurf within 3 to 4 hours, mastering both upwind and down wind turns. From this point on you can have great fun with this addictive and fun sport. It is also the perfect exercise for strengthening and stretching your back, the perfect antidote to spending hours hunched over a computer. The use of the windsurfs and tuition is included in the price of your trip

Sea Kayaking

Panasha is equipped with 4 double sit-on top sea kayaks, these kayaks are stable and easy to manoeuvre and our perfect for all beginners and more advanced kayakers. The sea kayaks are the perfect way to explore the coastline and allow you to get in places other boats cannot go. They can be loaded up with food and equipment for a mini-expedition. Surfing the waves is also great fun. The use of the sea kayaks and tuition is included in the price of your trip

Mountain Biking

Corsica is a mountain bikers mecca, with tracks all around in forests, along the coasts and footpaths are open to cyclists.

Climbing

Panasha is equipped with climbing equipment. There is some incredible climbing around Corsica as it has the highest sea cliffs in Europe, this is an impressive area to climb. With your ExplorAider guide you will be given the option of climbing some easy routes by the beach and / or some impressive sea cliffs that are not technically difficult. Climbing is an increasingly popular sport open to anyone young or old. It is incredibly addictive and rewarding as it is equally balanced between the physical, mental and technical aspects of the sport. Climbing with a guide and good equipment makes the sport safer than working in a bank! Climbing is available at a supplementary cost and needs to be organised in advance, please contact us for more details.

Snorkelling / Diving

Corsica offers super snorkelling and world class diving opportunities. Snorkelling equipment is always on the boat for you to use whenever you wish. Scuba diving is a supplementary activity and to avoid disappointment it is best to arrange in advance.

Trekking

This is surely the best way to explore Corsica's incredible inland landscapes and remote stretches of coastline. ExplorAider's guides will happily guide you around the best routes.

Kite Surfing

Kite Surfing requires 3 to 4 lessons of about 3 hours to master. You will start on the beach learning the theory and how to handle the kite and the safety features. Therefore if you want to try this option it may restrict your ability to explore further afield on the boat. We propose fast-track tuition to individual members of the group as a supplementary activity and cost. We can arrange this for example to fit in with a family program whilst other members of the group are taught to windsurf or go on a sea kayaking or snorkelling trip.

Canyoning

A classic experience that involves following a river or stream course which descends a canyon, with the opportunity for jumps, slides and abseils. Canyons experiences vary from a few hours to all day, and this experience is usually a great way to escape civilisation. This activity is available at a supplementary cost.

Horse Riding

Ride along windswept beaches and explore Corsica's hidden bridleways, an incredible experience available at a supplementary cost.

A kitesurfer uses a board with foot-straps or bindings, combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel himself and the board across the water. However, this simplicity also makes kitesurfing challenging. A kitesurfer's body is the only connection between the kite and the board. The kite is piloted in the sky while the board is steered on the water. The sport is still in its infancy, but is rapidly growing in popularity. The sport is becoming safer due to innovations in kite design and safety release systems.

The sport combines aspects of both sailing and surfing. A windsurfer holds the world speed record for sailing craft (an incredible 49.4 knots) and, windsurfers can perform jumps, inverted loops, spinning maneuvers, and other 'freestyle' moves that cannot be matched by any sailboat. Windsurfers were the first to ride the world's largest waves, such as Jaws on the island of Maui. An ExplorAider weekend introduction to this sport is something not to be missed.

Getting There

The charm of Corsica has been protected by the fact that it is difficult to access. There are very few direct flights from the UK other than weekly charter flights in Season, which tend to be Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday, see www.thompsonfly.com and www.holidayoptions.co.uk Alternatively Ryan Air and Easy Jet fly to a number of nearby locations such as Alghero in Sardinia, Nice and Marseille in France and many locations in Italy from where you can take a fast ferry to join Corsica.
